In this 2 day in-person Spoon Carving Workshop, Jared Williams & Stefanie Geisel will explore the creative endeavor of sculpting a spoon from within a piece of green (living) wood. Over two consecutive Saturdays we will examine hand carving techniques, inspirations and demos towards making your unique and useful wooden instrument that will last generations. Some artistic decorative options will include wood-burning (Pyrography), coal burning the spoon’s bowl, carbon-transfer design, engraving, and coffee / cinnamon inlay (Scandinavian Kolrosing).
This hands-on class can also be a meditative experience and may help you become hyper aware of your thoughts and bodily movements. Your intentional practices are welcomed and encouraged! We will end with a guided reflective circle to fully appreciate the process and reward of your personal creative experience.
This course is open to teens and adults with no experience needed, but previous experience working with your hands and/or wood is a bonus. Tools and wood will be provided for you to carve, but please feel free to bring your own! Consider bringing gloves to protect your learning hands. Also, we will not be providing lunch during this course, so please come prepared with food and drink. Looking forward to meeting you!

Also, it is not a requirement to return as most of the work will be on the way and can be finished on their own time if they desire. Please contact us if you would prefer one day only and we can discuss a price adjustment: info@circlecreativecollective.org
