Artesanía:
Creating a Latina Immigrant Women's Cottage Industry

By Circle Creative Collective

Circle Creative Collective is proud to present Artesanía, a program dedicated to empowering Latina immigrant women in Kingston, NY.
Through this initiative, we provide a supportive and inclusive space for these women to develop their
creative skills, achieve economic prosperity, and connect with their cultural heritage.

Our Mission:

  • Economic Empowerment: To help Latina immigrant women establish new income streams through the flexible and convenient production of handmade crafts from home.

  • Skill Development: To provide opportunities for women to learn valuable skills and gain experience in the arts and crafts industry.

  • Cultural Preservation: To support the preservation of traditional crafts and cultural practices from their home countries.

Program Overview:

  • Participants: This program is currently a closed group of approximately 20 Latina immigrant women residing in Kingston, New York. We are actively working to expand our capacity and support more women in the future.

  • Workshops: We offer workshops and training sessions focused on craft production, including clothing design, traditional embroidery, mask-making, and leather working.

  • Employment Opportunities: Participants are paid to create handmade craft kits, gifts, and handmade clothing for our Handmade Makers Markets and special events. We offer opportunities for women to work in areas such as clothing design, traditional embroidery, mask-making, and leather working.

  • Community Building: We foster a supportive and inclusive community where women can connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.

Benefits for Mothers:

  • Flexibility: Artesanía offers a flexible work arrangement that allows mothers to balance their childcare responsibilities with their career goals.

  • Income Generation: The program provides an opportunity for mothers to earn income while working from home.

  • Skill Development: By participating in Artesanía, mothers can develop valuable skills that can benefit their families and communities.

A Call for Support:

While Artesanía has been successful in empowering Latina immigrant women and preserving cultural traditions, we are facing significant financial challenges. The time and skill required to create our handmade products often exceed the market value, making it difficult to sustain the program without additional support.

Your generous donations and grants are essential to keep Artesanía alive and thriving. By contributing to our program, you are directly supporting the economic empowerment and cultural preservation of Latina immigrant women in our community.

Join us in making a difference. Please consider making a donation to Circle Creative Collective today.

Together, we can create a brighter future for Latina immigrant women in our community.

“Circle Creative provides work for these talented immigrant women who create these products with pride and independence. We feel so grateful that these women have a safe outlet for their skills, and inspiring means of support created with their own two hands.”
