Create your very own 9" rag doll using fabric, hand spun yarn, and wool. In this class we will learn how to make a small traditional rag doll from start to finish using sewing machines and our hands. The class includes all materials, patterns, lessons and printed instructions needed to make an heirloom doll for yourself or a loved one. Please bring a snack or lunch, and your own special fabric and sewing machine if you prefer (machines and all materials will also be provided). Some prior sewing experience will be helpful, but not necessary, though this is an "Advanced Beginner" sewing project.
Makes a great holiday gift- or for anytime!
Doll making is an ancient craft going back centuries. Dolls are believed by historians to be the oldest toys known to humans. They also have traditional spiritual significance across cultures and symbolic meaning in mythology. Making your own doll with favorite kept materials and love is a great way to recycle textiles and create a meaningful and magical gift for yourself or someone special in your life.
If you have special fabric or your own sewing kit and seam ripper, please bring. If not, materials will also be on hand.
