WHAT IS SoulCollage®

In Aileen’s own words: “SoulCollage® captured my passion almost a decade ago. It’s a deeply satisfying and simple creative process accessible to all, even those who might believe artistic expression is out of their reach.  SoulCollage® is an invitation to turn off the mind, release reticence and self-consciousness, and give validation to your authentic inner voice. Developed in the late 1980’s by California psychotherapist, Seena Frost, Soul Collage® is a cherished process that is practiced worldwide.

SoulCollage® can be used in many ways -- simply as a fun way to relax and express yourself creatively -- or in groups where sharing what emerges can be a revelatory community experience.  On a more penetrating and individual application, SoulCollage® provides a structure to create your own unique deck of cards which will possess profound personal meaning and inspire and help guide you with life’s questions.

Each card represents either an aspect of your personality or Soul, an archetypal energy or guide, or a person or place existing in your life.  After a card is created, an inquiry process is used to dialogue with the card and find its “voice”. While tuning in, you discover it's deeply personal message. This is often a magical and revealing process of receiving crucial information, which under ordinary circumstances, is often hidden from our accessible consciousness. The SoulCollage® deck mirrors the self as a whole and each card images one part of that self. Participants use their SoulCollage® cards to tap into their inner wisdom and find direction by "reading" cards individually or in groups. Sharing readings and SoulCollage® cards is an enjoyable, nourishing way to deepen intimacy and strengthen community.

Facilitators introduce the healing power of SoulCollage® to different cultures, ages, socio-economic backgrounds: women, men, school children, teenagers (both in the context of education or social services), writers, visual artists, filmmakers, musicians, athletes, business people, educators; those recovering from addiction and/or trauma, those enrolled in adult community education, and those grieving or dealing with terminal illness. Facilitation of SoulCollage® can be offered through individual and group therapy or coaching, on retreats, and by simply bringing together a group of friends for art, fun, and sharing.

SoulCollage® is an opportunity to take time for ourselves and joyfully deepen the understanding of the relationship between our personality’s parts -- you and your family/community/world -- and you and your dreams/symbols/Spirit.  It’s particularly satisfying to create something tangible to be kept, used and shared with others. SoulCollage® is an inexpensive, accessible way to find direction within oneself and at the same time experience the fellowship and support of community.”
